Viral Video player
The Dance4life video player is an example of a viral video player. It was developed with the goal to increase the online exposure of a worldwide educative program on AIDS prevention. Around 50.000 youngsters from over 450 schools in 17 different countries are celebrating that they are part of an initiative to break social taboos that block the prevention of AIDS.
Online exposure thanks to others
The player is built in such a way that it enables viewers to copy it onto their favorite websites. To increase the user-friendliness Noterik developed different methods for easily publishing the video on social networks Facebook, MySpace and Hyves (Dutch). Besides these special embedding protocols the player also provides a normal embed-code for publishing on any other website. The player is available with a graphical skin in multiple languages: English, Spanish or Russian.
To increase the user-friendliness of the player Noterik developed different mouse-click methods for publishing the player on social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and Hyves (Dutch).
Countdown, Live, On-Demand - all on YOUR website
In preview mode the player shows an on-demand video of Dance4Life with a countdown based on the language skin. On November 29th, 2008 the video player automatically changes into a live mode. The streams provided to the viewer during the live mode are coming from a Flash encoder encoding a live satellite mix from 15 different countries all dancing for life.
After the live broadcast (approximately 40 minutes) the player does not lose its functionality because it automatically switches to archive mode. In archive mode viewers can use the player to request a 25 minutes video edit of the Dance4Life event that is also used for broadcasting on television. The only difference with the Television signal is that the user can request it on-demand, at the moment that is most suitable for the viewer itself.
